What I’ve Been Up To….
Howdy everyone. I have been very busy (and poor Barnum has been very bored), working on a project that is close to my heart. It’s even is relevant to my theme of Lyme and MCS awareness posts for the month of May, because it’s about a friend with Lyme and MCS! In the past week or so, I created (okay, I had some help) an entire blog! No, not just a post, a blog. And it has nothing to do with dogs,* if you can believe it! But it does have to do with me finding real pleasure in being able to do something worthwhile for a friend, for finding that there are still challenging tasks I can do from bed, and realizing that there are still good people in the world. And, for once, to feel like I can do something when a friend is struggling. It’s also been nourishing to connect to other people who create beauty (whether with a camera, bits of metal and beads, fabric, or words). This necklace was inspired by our monthly challenge, I tried to capture those soft glowing colors. I wanted to create a necklace that looks like it would have been worn during that time period with a filigree wrapped pendant, stones, Czech glass and a very generous opera length chain. Supplies: 42mm clover petal brass filigree 26mm polymer clay bead 2 8mm faceted Czech glass rondelle 14 5mm Czech glass drops 2 12mm faceted lepidolite square beads 2 10mm faceted orange aventurine barrel beads 2 6mm fired agate beads 14 7.25mm brass jump rings 2 5mm brass jump rings 1 15mm jump ring 6 2″ brass eye pins 20 1/2″ brass cable chain Directions: 1. Place the polymer clay bead in the center of the filigree and fold the four corners around the bead. 2. Attach the large jump ring through the openings of the filigree. 3. Create looped links with each of the beads, string one on an eyepin and create a loop. Except the drop beads, add 7 drops beads to the eyepins and then make the loop.

With spring in the air and color returning to those of us emerging from the mantel of snow, this painting really was a wake-up call to the senses! There are all sorts of great painted filigree pieces in this shop! I added a glass bead, rhinestone rondelle, one of my disk beads, a bead cap and a fire polished glass bead to an eye pin. I attached the hanger and filigree with 13mm jump rings. The filigree is super lightweight so it won’t weigh down your branches. The filigree comes in sets of 2 so you can make for your tree and one for a friend or give them as a set. I could see them done in several different colors and given as a special gift. The second, is missing any art beads, but I have these round beads I need to use up. Expanding my Craft Inventory
Roller, rulers, pasta machines! Sounds fun! Brayers, polymer clay guns and molds…wow! Texture makers, gold leaf and pearl powders….goodness! I have to admit the look and sound of all the wonderful array of polymer clay tools is adding to the excitement of working with clay. At this point, the only thing standing in my way is a couple more work days and a room that is already packed full of beading/crafting supplies. Am I going to have room for new stuff? Yikes! The thought hadn’t crossed my mind until this moment. The good thing is, it looks like most of these supplies are fairly small and shouldn’t take up much space. I just need to make a little… Back to the tools and accessories….if you can part with any more of your polymer expertise, PLEASE let me know your thoughts on what I need to get started. I am guessing rollers and rulers, but not sure what else. How about rubber stamps? Do you use those in clay designs? (Thanks for your help!)

Alphabet Letter D is for Donut. This donut is so delicious, we just had to take a couple bites out of it! Kids are going to have a blast with this Alphabet Craft activity. Just don��t forget to add the sprinkles! Craft supplies you will need: Orange, yellow, pink and brown Construction paper Scissors Glue Alphabet Letter D Template Sprinkles or small beads Craft instructions: Print out the Alphabet Letter D template. The largest Letter D goes with orange construction paper and the next size goes with yellow construction paper. The smallest Letter D is for the frosting. The frosting goes with white or brown construction paper. Have the children trace and cut out all the Letter D��s. Next, have the children place the orange donut shape on the bottom, then have the children glue the yellow donut shape on top. After that, have the children glue on the frosting, making sure to line it up correctly. (The bite marks should match.)

Come today we¡¯ll tell you how to design your pearl bracelet. Pearls never go out of fashion and they can be worn with any type and style of dresses. Pearls are one of the girls¡¯ best friends. There are many types of pearl but mainly two types are used and are in vogue-Natural pearl and Cultured pearl. Now days people also use imitation pearl which has a surface created by some scientific process¡­they are easily available and cheap. The more the luster of the pearl, the more expensive it becomes. Pearls come in different colors like pink, beige, black, peach and of course black. The shapes can be round, roundel, rice-shaped, potato-shaped etc. So now get ready to make your pearl bracelet. All you need is actually quite easy to find: Pearls (about 30 for six inch bracelet), needle, nylon cord, scissors, and Fevi-Quick or glue and a little patience and a bit of time.
